Happy spring! We are so excited to finally be able to say that! We have a very full and green greenhouse at on the farm and are only days away from prepping to direct seed our first crops of the season. It was very nice to have a break this winter, we spent a lot of time discussing what we can improve on the farm for this year and choosing our many varieties of seeds.
We recently applied for organic certification and are currently jumping through all the hoops to attain it; thankfully besides us growing on the farm last year (which we did all organically) there hasn’t been anyone growing on our property in 15 years so we are hoping to get certification easily. We also bought a new/old tractor; it’s a farmall cub and these were designed to cultivate crops so ideally it will help us cut down on hand weeding time. We also got our first ever truck load of compost on the farm; we are really excited to see how this improves our soil! We made some new farm additions, our adopted cattle dog Eve who will fend off evil groundhogs and deer and we have 40 egg laying chicks!
Now that spring is here and farmers markets are right around the corner it is time to think about signing up for our Market Style CSA this year! We offer this CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) program through our markets which are:
Westfield Farmers Market-Saturdays 8:30- 1pm June- October
Westfield Train Station on North Ave.
Montgomery Farmers Market-Saturdays 9am- 1pm June- October
1340 Route 206S, Skillman NJ
NEW Deanna’s Farmers Market- Mondays 4pm to 7pm
54 North Franklin St. Lambertville, NJ 08530 (Deanna’s Parking Lot)
If you choose to sign up to be a part of our market CSA you can come to any of our markets and pick up whatever produce you like, and we will deduct from your account whenever you can come. Its hassle free; no money exchange at market, no unwanted produce, no weekly commitment, and we add a bonus on your account to begin with. You can use the account on whatever we have at the stand; any of our fresh vegetables, our plants in the spring, fresh flowers, or herbs! Signing up for our CSA in the spring helps our farm pay for upfront costs- seeds, supplies, equipment, you name it… and in return you get to reap the benefits all season long. I have attached our CSA sign up for you to look over, but just email us with any questions!
We will also be at the Montgomery Winter Market this Saturday 9 – 1 in the:
Princeton Health and Wellness Center
1225 Route 206,Princeton, NJ 08540
Unfortunately we don’t have any produce at this time, but we will have some plants for sale and will be there to answer any question about our CSA for 2019!
Thank you everyone, looking forward to June!
