The farm was started by owners Liam Clifford and Kimberly Clifford in 2017. Liam and Kimmy met at Rutgers University where they worked together on a student run farm and both earned degrees in agricultural science. From there we started to raise a family and work on other organic farms to hone our skills. Ever since we met at Rutgers, it has always been our dream to start our own vegetable farm. In 2017 we found the perfect opportunity to start out farm, a beautiful 15 acre property with surrounded by woods and a beautiful stream. Our goal has always been to raise our family on the farm and provide for and create a community that would like to raise their own families on the healthiest produce as well.
Kimmy has been working on different organic farms for the past 10 years. Her favorite part of the farm in the flower production, she plans all of the flower varieties and makes almost all of the bouquets. Kimmy also really enjoys tending to the greenhouse; keeping everything orderly and all of the plants healthy. Kimmy loves all of the vegetables we grow, her favorites would have to onions, garlic, and winter squashes. Liam has worked for organic vegetable farms for about 5 years and has been managing a ornamental plant farm for about 5 years. Liam is the problem solver on the farm, he really enjoys figuring out problems when they arise and setting up the tractor for what we need. He also really enjoys working the soil and how to improve it and picking peppers. Liam’s favorite vegetables are butternut squash and pumpkins. Our sons Sampson and Peter are some of our smallest helpers on the farm. Sampson is 6 and in first grade. Some of his favorite things to do on the farm include playing in the stream, playing baseball, and working on his fort in the woods. Sometimes Sampson will even help us weed or plant, but I wouldn’t say working is his favorite activity yet! Sampson’s favorite vegetables are Kale, Potatoes, and Cauliflower. Peter is our smallest helper he is 3 and will be starting preschool this year. Peter really loves playing in his swingset, riding the tractor with Daddy, and playing in the mud! He isn’t so inclined with helping out yet, but he loves to follow us around and ask what we are doing. We are still working on getting him to like vegetables; he really likes his strawberries and melons though!
One of our newest helpers would be our farm dog Eve. We adopted her this year and she couldn’t of been a better fit for our farm. She loves roaming the property and checking everything out, we haven’t had any groundhog encounter yet, but we have a feeling she’s going to be great at protecting our crops from those critters!A lot of our family also helps out on the farm. Liam’s parents Madelynn and Martin Clifford are out on the farm almost every weekend helping with any project we throw at them (trust us farm tasks are not always fun!). We are building our farm to be a place where our family, friends, and community members can enjoy one another and learn what goes into growing our food.
